PTW

Les has already outlined what we must all do to ensure that our club events run safely (thanks Les) so let's get the show on the road!

The essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.00hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start.

2. You have to be member of the PTW or a second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim or second-claim member.

To clarify, there will be a maximum of 28 riders taking part. Getting there early does not guarantee that you get a ride. If we get 30 riders turn up it is not the first 28 who get a ride.

All 8 remaining Thursday events will be on the R10/22A dual-carriageway and we consider that's a sufficient number to run the club events championship on a straight 'most points' basis.

Les did give you a reminder about the red light requirement so bung one on your bike (or in your kit-bag) right now.

Plan B

Anyone currently holding a race number (e.g. for No Pinz purposes) must ask for a new number.

There will be no facility for choosing numbers. Race numbers have been washed, dried in the sun and randomly placed in a tight-fitting box. One of the two officials will then draw off the uppermost number from the box. This is only in the unlikely event of over-subscription where first-claim members get initial priority and we then get into a luck of the draw scenario.

It's funny how, with this being the first event, it actually felt like April! Anyway, a warm welcome to our new members; David Morgan, Hugh Pascoe, John Shehan and Garry Vaughan and a warm welcome also to our new second-claim members Martin Sage and his son Dylan.

Mike Davies got us underway and was just 7 seconds off his 2019 best. 'Giggles' (Ellie Shaw) did a good ride on the eve of her birthday and will really improve during this mini-series. I thought I'd send a few riders off in front of young Dylan Sage to pave the way for him but he soon caught them to become the first rider home with a short '24' and finish in the top half of the field. Outstanding! His dad did really well too with a 22:16 to finish second.

James Lewis had an early field placing as he was riding home and finished fifth on his road bike and Heath Williams was also on a road bike finishing tenth and more than satisfied with that. Mike Hall was on a TT bike and rode a solid 22:47 to finish fourth whilst Neil Seaward finished third with 22:30. Rod Hicks shook off some ring rust by dipping under the '22' to secure the win and claim maximum points in the points competition. Well done Rod.

Alfie's 'man of the match' award goes to Dylan Sage for a superb 24:07 - impressive for a lad who is not yet a teenager.
