Whilst the Thursday night time-trial series is now just a happy, fading memory this coming weekend sees our sixth annual double hill climb weekend that will decide who will become the 2019 Club Hill Climb Champion.
On Saturday, September 28th we have the short, sharp Norton Hill Climb (1:6 or 17% at it's worst) whilst on Sunday, September 29th we have the long grinding ascent of the Bwlch.
Points will be awarded in each event and the rider with the most points over the two events wins. Lowest aggregate time will decide things in the event of a draw on points - after that it will be scissors, paper, stone.
The Saturday and Sunday club rides will both start at 10.00hrs and go straight to the hill climb courses for an approximate 11.00hrs start. These are official club events and competitors must sign on and must wear race numbers. I'll get two watches synchronised but I will need a second timekeeper please! _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). « Last edit by Alfie on Sun Sep 29, 2019 11:44 am. »

I've just become aware of the landslide problems affecting the Bwlch. We'll keep an eye on it but please post any updates you might have here. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

Nothing to do with the Bwlch, but I can report that NCN 43 is currently blocked by a fallen tree between Clydach and Ynystawe. It's just south of the underpass underneath the A4067.
I tried cutting through Garth Wood, instead, but I really wouldn't recommend it. I discovered that it's under water. Yeah, it was almost as a soggy as the World Championship Time Trial course. _______________ Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.

Cheers Dan. That'll save me buying an e-bike and riding up there tomorrow. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

The result of the Norton Hill Climb...
Thanks to Julian for holding-up duties, to Shirley for time-keeping at the top and to Will for.... just being Will!
Postscript
I guess we can have an Alfie's 'man of the match' on this first leg of the Hill Climb Weekend and it goes to Stephan Wilcox for a cracking ride after getting up after a nasty little tumble. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

The result of the Bwlch Hill Climb...
Les and Andrew were seperated by 7/100ths of a second! Sorry Andrew.
Thanks to Spot for doing the holding-up duties and for telling me the cage fighting joke. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

The 2019 Hill Climb Championship Table
Congratulations to Karl Rees on a fine win and it was great to see Rod ride both events and do so well. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).
