Well playmates, we're firmly into the second-half of the season and we're tapering down from the 25's with a 15-mile TT this week on a semi-sporting course that uses
the back road and the DC (and I know how much you like a good semi...)

Once again, we welcome Carys Jeffreys from the Bynea as a guest rider and she's put in a special request in to go one minute after Brad Davies ;)

Normal rules apply, sign on between 18.15hrs and 18.45hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs start and I'd like to remind you that the start is right by the signing on. Riders are respectfully asked to wait in single file at the start.

Course Description R15/2C - Start at west end of drain in front of bench on the B4242 (old Vale of Neath road) and 13 yards west of link road to A465 rbt at Resolven. Proceed westwards on B4242 through Abergarwed and Ynysarwed past the 'Rock and Fountain' climb to Aberdulais to the junction with the A4109 where left with care. Continue on the A4109 through Aberdulais to the Aberdulais Interchange where left onto the slip-road down to the A465 eastbound. Continue eastwards on A465 to Resolven rbt to take 2nd exit along A465 to Blaengwrach rbt. Bear left along cross valley link road to junction with B4242 (the old Vale of Neath road). Turn left onto the B4242 and proceed westwards to finish at the "30" mph speed limit sign at the east end of Resolven.

Denotes PB

On a warm, humid evening (with a few raindrops!!) Gareth Davies got the event underway eventually finishing with a hard-earned PB and this was the theme for the evening. Gaynor and Hollie rode as a 2-up and were the first to get to Resolven roundabout and kept 'tête de la course' all the way to the finish to post a useful 38:07. Our third lady rider was young Carys Jeffreys from the Bynea with did a PB and might well have taken the Bynea's Juvenile and Junior records too. Well done Carys!

Brad continued a good night for the Bynea with a PB of 37:40 just getting pipped on the line by his chasing minute man Chris Allen who attacked the course and finished strongly with a PB of 36:35 which proved to be a time only eclipsed by the seeded last third of the field. Ross Morgan made a solid comeback with a 37:17 whilst Gareth Hill is starting to get over his bad chest with a 39:08. Our international line-up also included Mateo Smith from Mallorca with did a PB with a 36:07. Bien hecho Mateo!

In the 'Battle of Cwmafan' Chris Lewis thrashed Owain by a huge two seconds but Owain's 35:20 was yet another PB for him and he does seem to get a PB everytime he pins a race number on! Quietly slipping into a top three position was Darren Edwards who is still not too enamoured of this time-trialling lark. This left our top two seeds to slug it out with Mike Portlock finishing with a '33' dead and Neil Seaward coping well with the pressures of being scratch (I've been there Neil) to take the win with a 32:38.

Well done everyone and big thanks to 'the last of the summer wine'.

And thank you Matt for bringing to my attention the fact that Neil Seaward broke the club record for the '15' course we've been using for the last three years.

Well done Neil.

Thanks Alf and Matt. Always look forward to Thursday nights, organisation is excellent (and the words of wisdom during the push off) ;-)

Great ride Neil, fair play. The idea of trying to stay with you as you passed me lasted for almost a whole second before I realised what a stupid idea it was!!! 😂
