OK, it's that time of the year where we switch to the longer distances. Next week is a '25' but this week we are going to build you up with a '15' that uses the back road and the DC. Normal rules apply, sign on between 18.15hrs and 18.45hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs start.

Course Description R15/2C - Start at west end of drain in front of bench on the B4242 (old Vale of Neath road) and 13 yards west of link road to A465 rbt at Resolven. Proceed westwards on B4242 through Abergarwed and Ynysarwed past the 'Rock and Fountain' climb to Aberdulais to the junction with the A4109 where left with care. Continue on the A4109 through Aberdulais to the Aberdulais Interchange where left onto the slip-road down to the A465 eastbound. Continue eastwards on A465 to Resolven rbt to take 2nd exit along A465 to Blaengwrach rbt. Bear left along cross valley link road to junction with B4242 (the old Vale of Neath road). Turn left onto the B4242 and proceed westwards to finish at the "30" mph speed limit sign at the east end of Resolven.

12 JOHN THOMAS PTW 43:31 13pts
13 BILL GANNON PTW 46:42 12pts
14 GARETH DAVIES PTW 55:49 11pts

A fair turnout considering the cool and blustery conditions plus the extra distance.

Anyway, John Thomas was sent off as a pathfinder for our newest club member, Gareth Davies from Birchgrove. Starting with a ‘15’ is tough, especially on a partially sporting course, but Gareth bravely battled around and will hack several minutes off that time when he next tackles this distance because Will is sorting out his saddle height. Well done Gareth and well done to John who wasn’t far off a PB.

First rider back was a fast-finishing Chris Allen who has been banging in some decent commuting/training rides and Chris was followed home by the Bynea’s Gaynor Hughes our solitary lady rider tonight as Hollie is a bit poorly – get well soon Holl!

Karl Rees was an early pace-setter with a short 36 to finish fifth but the top four were the top four seeded riders who conveniently finished in the correct order. I love it when a plan comes together! Owain massacred his previous PB of 41:40 whilst, without fuss or fanfare, Stuart Evans glided into third place. We had a cracking tussle for the top spot with scratch rider Neil Seaward narrowly edging out Merthyr’s Mike Portlock by 14 seconds.

Well done everyone and special thanks to Dai, Nigel and Will aka ‘Last of the Summer Wine’.
