Mark took a very nasty tumble on the club 10 tonight when departing the start line on his fixed wheel. Something split or failed just when Mark was giving it "maximum welly" (as they say in Aberdare). With no balance or outstretched arms Mark's head hit the road and left him in a bit of a state with a nasty gash on his forehead and plenty of claret. The road is fine.
He was made as comfortable as possible by his club mates but a shivering Mark had to endure a one hour and 35 minute wait before the ambulance arrived preceded by a fearsome ear-bashing from Becky. At this stage I'd imagine he'll be in overnight for stitches and x-ray/observation but I'm pretty sure he'll be fine and out riding his bike whilst wearing a helmet real soon.
That last point is important boys and girls.
@ Mark - Best wishes from everyone at PTW and the Thursday night testers for a speedy recovery mate.
@ Becky - Apparently bike prices are better on Gumtree than eBay. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). « Last edit by Alfie on Fri Aug 28, 2015 10:42 am. »

That length of wait for an ambulance is terrible given it was a head injury.
Hope you make a quick recovery Mark

The wait considering Mark,s injury is totally unacceptable, especially after three phone calls, and the attitude of the ambulance crew when they finally arrived was in my opinion well short of the standard one would expect. Will ring Becky later on today to find out Mark,s progress. « Last edit by pip on Fri Aug 28, 2015 12:20 pm. »

Update via Will 28/08/15
Looking a bit worse as Mark has unfortunately suffered a fractured skull and most of the other facial bones. Thankfully, no operation is required as the bones are in the right place.

Sounds nasty. Had you known it would take so long for an ambulance it would have been quicker for someone to take him to A&E in their car.
Get well soon Mark.

Now we know that Mark suffered a fractured skull it was probably for the best that we sat tight.
He's been on the phone to Les this morning and is sounding quite chipper. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

Spoke to Mark this morning and he's home and planning his Autumn turbo campaign... _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).
