Any info about this Sundays club run please. Seems a bit quiet lately on where our both club runs have been going.

Andy when I saw you had posted I thought for a moment you had broken the official secrets act and knew where today's mystery tour was heading.
I'm sure if routes/destinations were posted earlier in the week more members and potential new members would attend. Kev, hope you are keeping well. Jez |

Totally agree, but there must be a good reason, or is Andy on to something in his comment!
I'm fine thanks Jez and just about recovered after the Carten 100 miler into gale force winds the other Saturday, but at least it was for a good cause. ![]() _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining ) |

I was thinking the same thing Kev. Another sign of our clubs decline maybe ........ ..........If its not broke dont try and fix!........ But what if it is broke??........ I see Jez trying to put rides on here and 1 or 2 replying. I wonder how many met him today on a terrific ride he posted?? I tried last year to get the 09.30 ride back up and running only to ride down to Port Talbot and meet no one! I ride with the boys from the The Tap on a Saturday now..... always varried rides with different routes every week. They had 30 riders on a chain gang last Wednesday (In Port Talbot). I can think of many PTW riders using this as training. We seem to have missed a trick with this one. Im sorry to have posted this its feels like being a UKIP voter. Trying to tell the government that something needs to change. _______________ sleep is for the weak |

Sadly only 2 Dave, Jez & I (Another great route Jez, Ya The Man!!!) ...Hard to believe considering the weather we've had last 2 days plus it being cracking today weather wise, although NOT really surprised with the turnout once again....I know folk got families & with it being Bank Holiday have plans, but how many members does the club have....NOT all are playing happy families.
Good decent mileage rides is the main reason I joined the PTW, but sadly very few members want to participate for whatever reason??? |

Apologies Guys, I've Was In Ireland last week with work and no access to internet and I'm on holidays in north wales so unable to take any rides out last weekend. Also Spot was at the cycling weekend in Llandovery last weekend so couldn't make the club run and as its normally us that put's the rides up for the other 50 weeks in the year I'll guess that's the reason its all gone quiet.
By the way guys, totally agree with the cracking rides Jez call's so do I hear a volunteer for taking on a role of vice captain as clearly the issue is that we need three rides, the ramblers for beginners, an intermediate ride for those that have family commitments but want a workout and a fast group that goes on a big ride and take in some scenery. The clubs not in decline but were all doing different things because we all have different needs? What do say Jez / Crowley/ Dave Lloyd any of you up for leading a fast group? |

Les, you probably came back for some interesting reading after your break. Though a shake up is always good every so often.
I am chuffed you put my name in the same sentence as fast, that's never happened b4. A 3rd gruppo sounds a good idea and my thoughts are to use the forum more, particularly earlier in the week for anyone interested to post destinations and or routes. Even if some weeks an earlier start is required to accommodate longer rides or earlier returns. If riders know what time they will be home or distance they will do in advance it may influence how many miles or pints they do on a Saturday. |

Yep very glad to see some activity and discussion on here recently!
Think that's the key - every other club has regular Facebook and forum discussions about rides, ride reports etc, we need to be more like that. At least people would know where rides are going etc. I'm conscious I'm being an armchair critic here but unfortunately living in Cardiff means I can't help out by way of taking fast rides in the PT area. If I do have rides going I promise to post them up here though. _______________ The Force is strong in this one... |

Like I said in my post I tried last year with 09.30 with no interest. I very rarely out on a Sunday, if I am it's early with a group from Porthcawl which usually includes a few PTW members. I will just post that when I'm going.

I hear what you say Dave, but a year on it is probably worth promoting again and see how many like minded members or newcomers turn up. If after a few weeks interest is poor it will no doubt follow last year's demise, but I think it is worth giving it another go. LVRC 2 day event this weekend which I'm thinking of putting a late entry if I can so can't commit, but the following Sunday which I believe is the dragon sportif day could be the first gruppetto 3 outing.
So far there has only been a limited input into this and other recent threads, so let's hope more cyclists than typists, though looking at the number of views the recent threads have had I may be wrong. If no one else can commit, I am happy to trial the 3rd group for a month or so and see how it goes, even if it is just posting in advance and seeing if others show an interest to ride, though like you there will probably only be so many times I set the alarm clock to meet no one, which I hope isn't the case. So I will create a separate post for 8 June. Also, on another note what is the general thoughts from members about Saturday morning rides, route/destination/pace on return, etc. ???? |

Even if you can't commit every week to organise a long haul jaunt, perhaps trial it 1st with say 2 good rides a month???
Oh, BTW...Can't make this Sun but will be out Sat. |
