Hi Charles. The Friday ride sort of faded away. Regular riders in the past (Unfortunately for different reasons) stopped turning up. Once the turnout dropped to one or two riders, then it made irregular riders think twice before turning up.
Personally, having been one of those regular riders for quite a few years, it started to go downhill when the traffic increased when returning back through Taibach. Then riders like Vernon sadly passed away, Anthony moved away etc etc. I turned up several times to cycle by myself, so I stopped, and if the weather is nice I go elsewhere.
However, it's nothing official, so if enough riders get together for a Friday ride, then who knows what might develop again.

I turned up many a time to be he only one there. It's a shame as it's a nice ride. 2pm in the winter as a start time doesn't help. You are only just getting home in time before it gets dark.

Now living in Tenby I miss the club rides and all of the banter and obviously not aware of the issues that may have caused the demise of a number of the scheduled rides, which I understand includes the Saturday ones too.

We used to appoint club captains and vice captains who took charge as it were of the respective rides and were a point of contact for those who were thinking of turning out.

Would'nt it be an idea to return to this system which might re-create some routine and encourage participation once more.

I see that Les is an effective catalyst for the Sunday expedtions which from what I can gather are very well attended.

I have to say that the Friday bowl to Porthcawl and the Staurday 9.30am rides were both contrasting and fabulous. It just seems from afar that we need a bit of organisation that's all. :D

The two Saturday rides generally still have a good turnout too. I think the Porthcawl one was always more of a summer one.
