Hi Guys,
Apologies but I did not realise that Next Sunday I have to attend my level II coaching course at Carmarthen so I cannot lead the Ramblers ride. Now I don't want to miss out on an opportunity to win something this year so, I'm going to delay the down Hill race for one week. This being the case, this Sunday, Alf, can you lead the ramblers out to the Hill climb (Or have a joint run for everyone) and then I'll lead the ramblers out the following week and organise the Down hill event. (if that's ok with everyone...... PLEEEEEAAAAASE)

No problem Les. I'll need a second timekeeper but I'll sort that out when we get there.

I've got the synchronised watches thing sorted (2 sundials - let's hope it's not too cloudy).

Hi Les, I've been in talks with several potential downhill competitors and we've arrived at the same conclusion. As a forfeit for postponing the above mentioned event and as the major rule of the event is " cranks shall be taped to the velocipedes down tube", you the person in question shall be the only competitor to ride FIXED :D

OK Guys
Seeing that last week there was a bit of a mix up with times just to reiterate, 9:30 the ramblers leave the Plaza and head off towards Pyle, then left to Kenfig Hill, the lanes to laleston, come out on the top of Barn hill onto the A48 before going right to corntown. Up past the quarry to St Brides where left to Castle upon Alun and through the lanes to the Top of Crack hill where Cranks will be taped for the Downhill event.....

I suggest the Big Boys ride leaves at 10 and rips it along the a48 to meet us there....

Don't forget Torpedo... You got to be there to be in....

OK Guys and Gals, Hope your ready for this. Seeing as the ramblers are leaving at 9:30, lets say 11:00 for the start of the down hill Momentus Challenge. Be there or be.........there!

Well the downhill ride of the year award, Otherwise Known as I just eat more Aeros was a hard fought event. Tank went off first wobbling as he got into the tuck position but soon got into the swing of it.

I set off and as expected due, to me fine technique......... did a pretty good run. Others followed and no one got anywhere near Tank but then John Tudor (Sponsored by The Talgarth Bakery) came along and to the surprise of no one, ripped along, Just failing to meet Tank's first run.

Steve Torpedo Williams came down the hill....... and promptly got lost!..... Heading straight to Bridgend.... Unabashed he asked could he have another go and not wanting to disappoint we said yes. Steve (Torpedo) Williams with two LLs..... Late & lost......

By this time, aspersions were cast as to Tank's first Run.... did you really go that far, was it wind assisted.... Is this new diet really that good. So off he went for a second go.

Well on his second run torpedo managed not to get lost this time but failed to impress the judges and being far too light for gravity assisted events came last.

However soon the grandstand was in raptures as Tank came thundering past to once again beat Tud's fine attempt.

So there you are guys, Tank and Tud... More Aeros than Me ;) .. I just wonder what Mr Rattenbury could have done.

Having finished such a hard fought event. Sustenance was sought at Bryngarw with fine stories of how I almost won and what Training regime does Tud recommend.. All In All 22 riders out for a great day out.

PS Great to See Spot back on the bike :D

Hi Les, sounds like I missed a bit of fun, although it seems it was a hotly contested event and proves that young Tank goes both ways  (up hill and down hill) I mean. The downhill bit would have suited me, gravity coming in to play, but then I think friction would have been my undoing in the up hill bit :'(. Anyhow you gotta be in it to win it, Well done Tud and Tank. Where's the ramblers going Sunday?
