Could someone kindly confirm that we're only running one event this year and that it's on May 23rd.

Hello Alf. There has been a personnel change in WC, and the race dates from BC were slow coming through this year. I had to leave it late last year to apply for the licence, and then Christmas arrived, and everyone went on holiday. Everything sorted now, and I have one entry so far, but the good news is it's a PT wheeler which has entered first!
The 'Presidents' is on Thursday the 23rd of May, same HQ and course. Parking will have to be slightly different as we couldn't get permission to use the big car park. So if people want to enter, get training, you have been warned. I will be looking for volunteers again, and yes, there will be a free raffle for helpers. Will keep everyone updated as we move closer to the event.

Well, here we are again, another year gone and our beloved road race is the next PTW event to hit our dedicated band of volunteers.
Thanks to all the offers for marshaling, brilliant. If you can come to the TRW club around about 6 to quarter past please, there you will be kitted out (Hi viz jacket) and briefed on your role. The safety of the riders and marshals is paramount.
All helpers will be entered, free of charge, into our world famous raffle. Once again our spectacular first prize (2 tickets to the Wiggo Giro victory party!) has had to be scrapped due to (Cough!) unforseen circumstances, so we will have to fall back once more to the ever reliable Tesco bargain booze bin!
Before I forget, Eleanor needs help please with the teas etc.
So, just to recap. The TRW club opens at 5pm and the race starts at 7pm.
I phones will be welcome on the finish line, the more views of the finish the better.
See you all this Thursday evening, it should be an entertaining night.

Weather is looking a bit breezy for this. 20mph wind with 35mph gusts.

I hope the resurfacing roadworks that were taking place today on the B4242 (Glynneath Road) have all been completed & moved on by Thursday guys, just down the road from Ynys cricket ground.

The situation is being monitored. We have contingency plans if the full course is not available.
Who in their right mind would want to be a race organiser eh!

Just checking - how many times do the riders go past the finish line?

The course details on the website seem to indicate twice.

You ring the bell the second time they pass, and they finish on the third time they get to the line.
We'll have a chat tonight in the HQ when you pick up the bell and finish flag Alf.

A big thankyou to Kevin for putting on a superb event yet again , many thanks to the marshals, NEG group , and other club members and friends, without whose support the event could not have taken place. Special thanks to Tudor Thomas for his chief commissaire role, even the weather was kind enough in the end. Lastly congratulations to my little boy James for an excellent win , an event he has been wanting to win for a couple of years , having come close on several occasions.

Well said Pip, and thanks.
Special thanks to all the helpers, you certainly made it easier for me. Very greatful to the marshals who stood around in the cold to make sure the riders were safe.
All of you will be entered in the raffle in club tonight.
Thanks also to the commissaires, Tudor, Pip and Gwyn (Who turned up while not feeling too well)
The drivers were superb, as usual!
The ladies on catering were spot on, supplying me with plenty of coffee and cakes to keep me going.

It looked like a tough but excellent race in our usual summer conditions.
Congrats to Rhys Lloyd who came a good third, just in front of the bunch.
A big congrats to 'Tank' who finally won our road race after getting so close in previous years. He won it in great style, jumping away from the bunch and finishing on his own, lapping up the moment when crossing the line. 8)
Lead car reported that James was doing 40mph when he jumped away!!!!!
Well done again James, you deserved it.

Hot off the press, the result for helpers raffle held in club tonight, in front of a very cynical (Well the one's that didn't win anyway!) and happy (The one's that did win!) audience.

First Prize - A bottle of Champagne - Bill Gannon. Please don't tell me you don't drink alcohol Bill. I can swap it for a box of hankies, if you like.

Second Prize - A bottle of Red Australian wine - Les Thomas. Did you manage to make it home with a full bottle mate?

Third Prize - A box of luxury 'bath bombs' - Jeff Bruce. That's Caryl's next birthday present sorted then!

Fourth Prize - A box of luxury biscuits - Alf Williams. Pip is going to drop them round your house Alf. Don't fortget to count them and if he's longer than a week I'll get you another box.

Fifth Prize - A box of Cadbury's Heroes - John Pritchard. Don't forget John, Pat did work hard on the catering that night!!

Thanks once again to all who helped on Thursday night, it is much appreciated.
