On a bright and breezy Sunday morning 9 PTW riders went chasing the prize money in the Ogmore 25mile time trial on the R25/3H at Rhigos.
First off was the Overflow Men, Juniors and Juveniles event, and the strong tailwind out meant that whilst it was hairy down the bank it was a great deal of fun all the way to Aberdulais Roundabout.
There is a strong rumour that the screams of Oh Sh!~ were in abundance as the full effect of the headwind back was felt by the riders on the turn however, this was soon muffled by the cries of desperation and "I wanna Get Off" as riders approached the McDonalds Roundabout on the homeward leg.
I led the boys home with a 1:1:04 Closely followed by John Stroud who, having found a new lease of life since discovering Philisan, recorded a 1:1:39. Bill Gannon was obviously suffering the effect of his '59' earlier in the week and returned home in 1:3:10. Wyndham Thomas was in close attendance in 1:3:29 and Jeff Griffiths recorded 1:4:56.
A special mention goes to Alan (Archie) Evans who recorded 1:16:26 in his first time trial for 30 years (ps Archie, if you Keep going at Mcdonalds roundabout and don't turn left for a quick Burger and you will go faster you know....)
And so to the main event with a full field and the presence of the Good Doctor, Mr Hutchinson, Some very creditable times were recorded on what was a tough day.
Rod Hicks, recorded a 54:50 with Hugh Davies pushing him all the way with a 55:16. Chris Allen did another great ride speeding past the time keeper in 57:33.
For all of those who might be interested, The event was won by Michael Hutchinson in............................46:29..........
