Well here goes a second attempt at Davey's Roving reporter mantle but be warned whilst Davey is a top notch 2nd CAT reporter who recently recorded a brilliant 2nd place in the Presidents Road Race. I'm a veteran 4th CAT who can only win a race to the bar (unless CJ is entered of course) but as they say, "you gotta start somewhere"

A warm and thankfully calm morning faced the 202 riders who faced the WCA 25 Mile Time trial at USK. The sun having made a welcome return this weekend was accompanied by a slight headwind on the outward leg.

5 of PTW made the main event which was won By Scott Povey of Warwickshire Road Club in 50:47

Andy Evans led the boys home in 56:40 with Hugh Davies Snapping at his look keos in 56:48. Rod Hicks recorded a 57:21. and the lean and mean Jayson James returned in 59:19. Chris Allen returned another good ride with a 1:00:09

In the overflow event I brought the boys in with a 1:00:20 closely followed by the home guard of John Stroud 1:01:48 and Jeff Griffiths in 1:03:32. Skippy was very happy having recorded 1:7:35 which was only 21 seconds off his last 3 seasons best time and Dai Triggs beat his best LTS time by a wapping 1 minute and 10 seconds to record a 1:12:14.

As usual the banter and coffee in the HQ was up to it's usual standard and spare a thought for Maesteg Wheeler and PTW 2nd Claim member Glyndwr Lewis who was ready at the start but having looked at his watch, decided he had enough time to do a quick sprint as a warm up. He rode all of 100 yards...... and returned........... to take up his starting position......... 1 minute late.........(Should have gone to specsavers)
