An outstanding athlete makes a comeback...

But, hey, that's enough about me on the Sunday 'beginners' ride.

So what do we think about St. Lance's comeback?

At the time of his retirement the idea was floated about him having a year off and coming back just to show that he could do it - and it would have been a racing cert that he would have won. But by the time that the grand depart comes around next year it will be four years since his historic seventh win in 2005!

For me, he has achieved the perfect seven - something that will never be beaten but a failure would tarnish that somewhat.

Will he comeback and win the TdF in 2009? Probably...

Love the thread title!! I was very excited to hear the news this morning, and while I fear for him should he lose the Tour and tarnish his undefeated record, I think it will be fantastic for cycling in general for the worlds most influential athlete to bring the worlds media to bear on our sport once more. The attentoin will be immense and sponsors will want to buy in to it.

I am waiting eagerly for the route details to be announced, then I'm booking flights...
