After a short break of raicng it was time for the PTWCC Crit Hit squad to get it on again. James & I took to the start of a 30+ field, of which at least 29 were Forza! Hushed whisperings in the car park between other teams and a loose alliance against the Forza was formed.

However, we hit the start and as I had once again let the training slide, I was soon in trouble, and following a flurry of attacks, 3 Forza broke away. All teams left behind tried to chase, and for a while it looked like we might get somewhere, but as with all these things a couple of missed turns, the odd turn too hard, and everyone stopped working. Fair play to James, he worked like a Trojan. As for me, I was struggling, big time. Everytime I would hit the front, even little turns would send me straight to the back for the next 5 laps! It was going to be a long night.

Soon the bunch had consigned itself to racing for 4th. With 5 laps to go, the joint 10m TT champ from Ogmore chipped away witha Cwmcarn guy. I dropped back to have a word with James, we was sitting in and looking sharp. We agreed that the only plan was to 'Smash It!' On james' command I unleashed all I had left, and sprinted for half a lap, tearing the field apart! Only a few managed to come with me, James included, and we swalloed up the Ogmore easily. I was now cooked, and after hanging on the back of the James group, found myself dropped with 2 laps to go. I tried to stay out there, but content that my man was where he needed to be. I was swallowed up with 200m to go, while James srinted to 5th, an excellent result in that field. 8)

Roll on the WASP next week!

Nice one Dave. Have thought about sport journalism.
The terms "work like a trojan" and "smash it" would go down weel in The Guardian.
