Light cloud with a fresh breeze (17mph) - Race Time Temp 15°C

After the excitement of our 4-up Team Time Trial last week we return to the Club Event Series sponsored by Onit Cycles. Sadly, the dual-carriageway south-west of Resolven is out of action until mid-August so we're on the back road until that glorious day... which might just also be my birthday!

OK. Moving on to the time-trial itself here are the essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.10hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start up near Glynneath.

2. You have to be a member of the PTW or a second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim or second-claim member and for 2024 this is now £40.00 (£30.00 + £10.00 supplement).

RC10/22G 'BACK ROAD' COURSE DESCRIPTION

START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at the entrance to F.E. Chick just north-east of Rheola Pond. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the 'Rock and Fountain' hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (5.0 miles).

Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start.

A very cool and windy night on the back road and with a few tired legs from last night's Merthyr 15 and Grog had an early start and a commute. But there was noubt wrong with Neil's winning time of 23:13 and it's great to see his good form continuing.

Alfie's MOTM goes to John Shehan whose first thought before riding was "Alf, have you got enough marshals?" OK, so just ignore John's time and focus on his comeback from his health issues and the sheer joy of seeing him pin a race number on. Nice one John!

As always, thanks to Will and Dai plus JD and Joan for covering the turn and also to Tony Howell for covering the 'T' junction. Well done everyone!
