Showery with a moderate breeze (12mph) - Race Time Temp 11°C

Our first '13' of the club event season kickstarts May and with this being on the back road we'll be having no dramas about running the event if it's raining so Dai, Will and myself will be there regardless of any rain!

OK. Moving on to the time-trial itself here are the essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.10hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start up near Glynneath.

2. You have to be a member of the PTW or a second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim or second-claim member and for 2024 this is now £40.00 (£30.00 + £10.00 supplement).

COURSE DESCRIPTION

START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at unused entrance just south-west of the new Health Centre in Glynneath. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the "Rock and Fountain" hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (6.5 miles).

Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start.

The ride to the start is 3.2 miles or 15 mins at a 13mph plod.

Another cold and gloomy night but we have ridden our luck in so much that we've not seen hardly any rain over the past five weeks. Anyway, there were some good rides tonight including our winning time of 27:42 by Sam Fisher (Welsh Racing Academy).

I hope Sam will forgive me for moving down the field and awarding Alfie's MOTM to Graham Rogerson for an excellent road bike ride and just two minutes down (over 13 miles remember) on his friendly rival John Aspell. Well done Grog!

As always, thanks to Will and Dai (who was back on form tonight) and also to JD for covering the turn.
