I know this has nothing to do with cycling, but I'm trying to work out how to join some bits of 1mm 316-grade stainless steel together. It needs to be a neat job, with low levels of distortion and contamination. I'm thinking that TIG welding might be best, but from what I keep reading on the web, it's a complicated subject.

I've a feeling there's a few people in the club with experience in this area, even professional experience. I would like to know whether what we are attempting is technically possible. If it is, there's a budget available. If interested, please contact me: bill at gannon dot me dot uk.

Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.
