Whilst the Thursday night time-trial series is now just a fading memory next weekend sees our fifth double hill climb weekend that will decide who will become the 2018 Club Hill Climb Champion.

On Saturday, September 29th we have the short, sharp Norton Hill Climb whilst on Sunday, September 30th we have the long grinding ascent of the Bwlch.

Points will be awarded in each event and the rider with the most points over the two events wins. Lowest aggregate time will decide things in the event of a draw on points - after that it will be scissors, paper, stone.

The Saturday and Sunday club rides will both start at 10.00hrs and go straight to the hill climb courses for an approximate 11.00hrs start. These are official club events and competitors must sign on and must wear race numbers. I'll get two watches synchronised but I will need a second timekeeper please!

BTW if any of our regular Thursday 'guests' are reading this you will be warmly welcomed.

Given the wonderful Autumn weather it really was a disappointing turnout but we had a good scrap between the top seeds with Neil taking a valuable two-second lead into tomorrow's decider on the Bwlch. It was an even closer margin between the other pair with just one second separating Hollie and Andrew.

Thanks to Shirley and Tony for their vital assistance and to Will for making sure everyone's saddle was the correct height.

Wow! Take a look at that time guys.

Congratulations to Karl Rees on winning the 2018 Club Hill Climb competition and breaking the club record for the Bwlch HC course.

Great ride by Karl :D looks to be unbeatable up that climb!

What was the previous club record for that course Alf? Do you have an all time fastest style list? e.g. a top 10/20 or list of all riders from the club who have gone sub 10/11 minutes? Would be interested to see if you have any more times than those on the results section

This is what I have from the club website (each rider's best times only)...

AFAIK Karl already had the record with 8:16 in 2016 but there were whispers of "so-and-so did an eight-something in 1976" but his ride on Sunday is now definitive especially as we start and finish in exactly the same place each year.
