The weather's looking a bit unsettled at the moment but I've said a few prayers in front of my home-made statue of Carol Kirkwood (made from papier-mache) and we might just get a surprise like we did last week.

Anyhoo, meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.15hrs to 18.45hrs and an approximate 19.00hrs start. Please note that no one (not even Theresa May in leopard print Sidi's with kitten heels) will be allowed to sign on after 18.45hrs and it is important that the timekeeper is not disturbed or distracted after this time.

START on the factory service road at the Vale of Neath Enterprise Park and proceed eastwards along the service road to the Resolven Rbt taking the 1st exit Left and then smash it in a westerly direction along the A465 dual-carriageway.

Take the very 1st slip road off the dual-carriageway and bear left to climb up to the small Tonna Rbt (5.136 miles) taking the 1st exit Left to the large Aberdulais Interchange and circle the Rbt to take the 4th exit, descending the slip road to carefully re-join the A465 dual-carriageway going in an easterly direction.

Smash it eastwards to the Resolven Rbt (shut up legs) taking the 1st exit Left to finish just after the turning into the car park we meet up at.

Really good attendance on a poor night and I'd like to thank all riders for agreeing with the course change.

The Tashkent Terror returned following a bad back and set the early pace with a tempo ride but the first rider back was a deliberately mis-seeded Mark Andrews who slotted into a spare, er, slot. Our girls had a great battle with Holly just edging out Alex but, in turn, both girls edged out some of our slightly chunkier men. Sorry Dave.

The battle of the Morgans was won Morgan Ley who was magnanimous in victory by acknowledging Morgan Hendry's ring rust (well, you know what those saddles with steel rivets are like).

Stuart Jones punched his way up the Rock and Fountain climb to finish a creditable fifth whilst Lloyd Morgan got in between our Milk Tray twins to claim third with a resurgent Rod Hicks second and Chris Jones taking a well deserved win. Looking at our previous nights on the Back Road I think many of you did Course PB's and have juicy targets for next week. That's in terms of time and the rider in front of you on tonight's result.

Big thanks to Nigel Jones for pushing off and to Simon Thomas for nipping a cycle event sign down to the turn.
