PTW

Well!, looked out the window Sunday morning and thought someone's left a door open somewhere, what a breeze! . Any way it wasn't raining, so off I set to meet whomever at the Plaza, down through the lights, thinking, oh! a few easterners have braved the breeze, only to be greeted by the NEATH contingent, (obviously out in force to make light of our beloved secretary's aspersions on their inclement weather cycling) .
9.35 and off we set with nobody east of Taibach in attendance , the clouds over Glyn Neath looking more and more threatening the closer we got, onto the dual in Baglan to be joined by Andy Williams and one other, into Briton Ferry and Andy Lewis joined the group. So far, dry!. Stockhams corner, the heavens opened, so we ducked into an archway under a block of flats( boy did it come down). 10 mins past and off to go again, Penywern hill, Rhos, Pontardawe by pass, to pick up the cycle path at the layby, ooooh!, we had a refusal at the first, to many leaves on the path said one, I agree said another, the Ramblers were revolting( well what do you expect after all that road spray), anyway, it was unanimous we stayed on the road, 'till Will left us at ynysmaedwy and took to the cyclepath. Up the Swansea valley we went and turned right at Abercrav to climb up Intervalley way, Myself and Dai Triggs stayed at the back to ensure no one got left behind , over the brow and a couple of 100yds(mtrs) and a right and left to the café.
What a café it turned out to be, plenty of welcome, plenty of room and plenty of choice, but apparently you can't have apple crumble unless you're having Sunday lunch(so says Andy Will). As John Will, said," it'd be a cracking Sat morn Training ride, up the Neath valley, either left or right side of river to Glyn neath, up the climb, café and through and off through Seven Sisters, Crynant, Aberdulais. I mention that, because that's what the fast boys and pros looked as if they were doing as they rode away from us in Onllwyn . It was bloody hard into that wind all the way home. All in all a good day, certainly a good turnout(14) for the conditions. one criticism, look back now and then boys, Les is doing well keeping these rides together, lets help him out .
