Well the first Ramblers ride was well attended with Bevan Hulse, Paul Naysmith, Little John, Kevin Rattenbury, Gareth Howe, Jeff Griff, Shirly and Tony Howell, Alf Williams and myself taking the cycle path north up to Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre. A great Route, great company and a great café stop at the end.... All this and home in time for lunch.... What a great way to spend a Sunday morning.... (Possibly a few too many greats in there but then again it was........well, Great)

Selwyn took the faster group out consisting of Carwyn Price, Mark Thomas and Young Steve and indeed they started off by heading west towards Pembray. Now I'm not sure what happened but it appears that Mike Hall caught them.... and when he said he was going up to the Devils Elbow young Steve got excited and thought that's the ride for me... and off into the hills they headed.

This meant that Selwyn, Carwyn and Mark had change of Heart and they decided to join the Ramblers ride.... . Now I hear a rumour that Mark made the mistake of putting his wheel in front of Selwyn's as they headed back...... Red rag to a bull.... Selwyn Put the hammer down and all hell broke loose. However, much to their surprise, they didn't catch us and got to the café in a nice mess after a burn up the Valley.

All in all a good day was had by all as we all had a nice bowl back down the valley.

The ramblers ride is heading along the cycle path to mumbles next week but we've agreed to leave at 9:30. I'll talk to Selwyn this week to find out where the fast group is off to.

While the cats away, the mice will play, so, I thought I'd go for a longer ride and had my eyes on going up the elbow. I caught up with Selwyn's group by the train station and after explaining where I was going young Steve and Rich G decided to come with me.

We left the rest of the lads at Briton Ferry and headed through Neath, turning toward Crynant at Aberdulais. Over the common to Ystradgynlais, Abercrave, passed Madame Pattie's, turning off to Heol Senni. Now I'm not sure whether it worse climbing Heol Senni or going down it, either way its scary! Over the elbow, turning at Ystradfellte to Penderyn. After stopping to fuel we went over Rhigos and the Bwlch coming down the Afan side.

Steve took all 3 KOM's by a country mile, leaving myself and Rich to wonder what we needed to do to tire him out. My only saving grace was being the biggest I came down the hills the quickest, small comfort but I'll take it!

Epic ride, in all senses, with good company.

Fantastic ride Mike in great company plus the weather was great, I thought Steve had a rocket up his backside the way he was heading up the climbs, next time they'll have to be steeper, although he'll be on his todd then :0).....I hope he struggles to get outta bed in the morning Hehehe!!!
