Hi All
On behalf of the committee and as organiser of todays event I just want to offer my thanks for the efforts of all those who took part. The comments I have been recieving all day make me proud to be a member of Port Talbot Wheelers.
Just one example was someone who said " I can't get over the organisation of this event, You have so many people willing to stand on the junctions, It makes me feel safe and means I can get on with my ride. I go to events all over the place, none are like this".
As an organiser, there's a lot of work that goes in before the day of the event but the day itself is still quite stressful. Have you missed anything? Have we got the results board correct? Have any riders got lost or fallen off.
What's so great about this club is that when I did a run around the course and saw everyone where they said they would be, so much support. It makes it all worth while.
So a big thank you to all the following club members who made this day work so well.
Chips for putting out all the direction arrows I know there were a lot, I took them down.
Peter Jones - Issuing and receiving numbers
Tony Howell - Starting Timekeeper
Selwyn, Pip, Tud and Martin - 240 riders pushed off - (Not sure if the work load was shared equally though)
Andrew Williams - Hirwaun roundabout
Mark Hillier & Spot - Blaengwrach MDonalds Roundabout
Kevin Jones - Resolven Roundabout
Bevan Hulse - Aberdulais Roundabout
Wyndham Morgan - Aberdaulais Rounabout
John Willy - the Glynneath exit slip
Skippy - the Glynneath Slip road Junction
Jeff Griff - Recorder at the Finish
Shirley Howell at the the refreshment counter at the TRW Club
Alf Williams for doing his Wizardry on the Board and akng the presentations
Fortunately for us we also have some external friends without which these things would not happen.Tudor Thomas, Norman James and Julia Jones who took on the timekepng duties and also Maralyn Shehan (Bynea CC) for helping Karen and Shirley with the refreshents
I have make a special thank you as well to Dai Triggs who rode the overflow event and when asked to take over from Wyndham at 1:00pm, didn't flinch with an immediate yes.
Finally I have to thank Karen for all the help she has given me in running this event. From putting up with two days of interruption to our annual holidays as I got the start sheets out. Going out and buying the cakes and coffee, working with Shirley and Maralyn givng out the refreshments and then helping me take the signs down. We left at 6:45 this morning an didn't get home till 5:00 this evening.
But its all worth it when we get great comments about the club and another competition record as Michael Hutchinson recorded a time of 45:46

(Unless it's raining
