I have received a telephone call from Ceri Williams asking me to let the members know that former member, Dai Williams of George Street Porthcawl has passed away.
I did not know him myself but I have been told that he was an Ambulance Driver working for the Health Authority.
For those that did know him who wish to pay their last respects the Funeral arrangements are:
Coity Crematorium

Dai was a really nice guy. We nicknamed him dai death, because he always used to tell us of different occasions when patients died in the ambulance. Realy sad news. Dai wasn,t that old either. rip. STUART

I knew Dave in the early 80's as he'd retired from rugby and began cycling with the PTW.
He used to say he didn't know what fitness was until he started cycling. He rode many open events in South Wales and I remember riding the Severn Road Club 4 up with him and Keith Bartlett. He began to specialise in the BAR and the 12 hour was one of his best rides but I don't recall what his distance was. Maybe someone else can add to this as I think Wacker was helping him on his ride.
I used to see Dave regularly around Porthcawl and only the other week was the last.
He was kind with his words when my Dad passed away last year and I'll always remember him for that.
So long Dave.
