Got to the Plaza on Sunday and heard the bad news about 'Big Kev', which took a bit of the shine off the day, to say the least.
However, the show must go on, so this is the last report on the last rambler ride for this year (Thank God, I hear you say).
The BBCR decided to play safe (Big Kev's accident playing a big part in the decision!) and go to the Ewenny cafe, sticking to the main roads. The rambler ride was already planned to go that way anyway, so we all sort of left together. The split came 50 yds from the Plaza, which was not unexpected!
This left the rambler team comprising of Kara, Bev, me and Dai Triggs (Who has now been promoted back to super domestique [See earlier report]). Little John soon joined us after he dropped out of the BBCR, saying that they were going far too slow for him
We 5 rambled our way to the cafe, with Kara picking up 'Rambler Queen of the mountains' points on every climb.
Met the BBCR in the cafe after they had put in a few extra miles, and enjoyed a pot of tea and a good chinwag (Going to miss that cafe

)
Went back home along the A48 with the BBCR, and a nice little headwind. This year's rambler queen of the mountains found the return a bit more difficult, but she stuck in there well. However, at the start of the Stormy Down climb the legend that is Selwyn, came to her rescue and pushed her up every incline, thus keeping the pace decent (For a clubrun) the rest of the way home.
So that's it for this year!. I would like to thank all the good people that have ridden with the rambler ride this year. Have a merry christmas and a happy new year.
See you next year.
