Once again the cycling gods smiled on the humble ramblers ride as we set off at 10am, with a blustery tail wind, and the sun on our backs we made our way West to Swansea. Todays gang (And in no particular order) consisted of Dai Triggs, Colin Speakman, Kev Rattenbury, Bev, Will, Mike (Newby, on a nice looking Trek), young Christian (His name, not his religion) - He is a club member, but first time out on the ramblers ride. Abbey, on a new second hand Mercian racer (She is getting serious!) that she has picked up since last week, Kara (On the same bike as last week) and last and probably least - me. We met Brucy and 12yr old grandson Corey at the river crossing in Swansea. Like Ceri last week, Corey impressed me with his pedalling and power (Looks like he has Jeffs sprinting genes).
The twelve of us made our way briskly to Blackpill (Still a tailwind) and decided to push on to Gowerton, where we turned to make our way back to the Blackpill cafe. We were now going back into that blustery wind. We had a nice stop at the cafe for a lovely cuppa, and in my case a toasted teacake! Going home was slower (Obviously!) but everyone got stuck in and the miles melted away. Got back to the Plaza at 2pm with 40 miles in the bag, and everyone satisfied with the ride.
So it's a warm welcome to Mike, Corey and Christian on their first (And hopefully not last) rambler ride. Well done all.
How did the 'big boys' clubrun go Spot?
