Hello peeps.

Bev, my wife, is still nervous about road rides and being out with other people, (I don't count as 'people' apparently!).

We both want to join in club rides but don't want to get left so far behind that we are demoralised, but we also don't want to hold up the group.

When is the best ride, Friday 2pm or Sat 10:30?

We'll build up to the Sunday long ride slowly.

Thanks.

Friday is a great start. Nice steady ride to Porthcawl.Thats the first ride I was advised to do. Saturday ride is faster so probarly not a good starting point. Sunday rides are longer and speed of ride depends whos out.

Possibly the Friday, definitely not the Saturday. Believe it or not, the steady pace of the longer Sunday rides might be better introduction.

A very nice ride to start off with would be the Boxing Day Bash to Mumbles and back as it's a reasonably short distance, the pace and atmostphere are relaxed, you'll have some food and drink to boost your energy and/or morale and the troops will get you home even if they have to push you. To be fair to the Friday gang this probably applies to the Friday ride as well.

I cross-posted with Paul who has just about hit the nail on the head.

Are you coming out boxing day? :D

Sadly no. It's Mandy's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and we're having a bit of a do.

Can't do the Boxing day ride. Bev is working nights.

So the "Saturdays 10.30am Softrider's Bash to Ewenny Cafe 28 miles" is a bit misleading then?

We'll try and do a Friday afternoon ride after christmas.

well you could try the saturday ride but it is a tad quicker than the other rides so dont say you havent been warned  :'( . It depends on your fitness levels. Plus no one waits for you on a saturday ride. Its called the Saturday " Bash" which means race to the death  But the ride does break into groups and you stay with the one which suits your needs ;)

I may not be ready for that yet, Bev certainly isn't.

Thanks for the advice.
