Think its bout time someone clarified this rumour: Yes me and James have been approached by JIFF and asked if we would like to ride/race for them, and thats as far as its gone. A few jiff members seem to have got a bit over excited for some reason at this, i dont know why, not as if me and james are owt special, there just lookin to put together a strong 2ND cat team, james beeing a 2nd cat already and im almost there, and thats it... It is a nightmare racing against 8 jiff riders to 1 ptwcc rider at races, but thats only in the 3rds and 4th, when i get my 2nd cat licence then the shoe will be on the other foot, with me , james and disco dave giving just 2 jiff 2nd cat ridrs a hard hard time.. !! ;)

Glad to here it Charles, can't have JIF taking over the world

I know they gave you a jersey to ride the TTT Charles, but this is going a bit far. C'mon, snot green! Alot of thought gone in to the design of that one! and think of this, James wont be called "the tank" Lewis anymore, instead he'll be "the flying marrow"!!!! can't happen mate!

I'm just jealous really no-one has asked me to ride for them - I must be crap!!

You do whats best for you Charles but I hope you stay with PTW

So being one of nine will make it any different??

Given that they'll try to distribute their points amongst all their riders you'll probably get less opportunity to be 'up the road' than you get now....

When they 'allow' the break up the road with their three nominated riders - what's the guarantee that you're one of them?? Surely better to be one of the 'others' in the break and make use of their team tactics!!

Stick with PTWCC - you know you want to! 8)

It takes brains to work that out Steve,,so form your own conclusion!,i thought before anybody joined another club they had to resign from their present one, but i am too old fashioned, i suppose to expect such a courtesy.
Member
It's only the jersey that's greener, not the grass.............

Makes no sense to me. I could have joined any one of the Cardiff Clubs when i moved down here four years ago, but whats the point...... local (chipper) racing totally dominated/spoiled by one club will turn riders off the sport.

Far better to be aiming to 'put one up 'em' as far as I'm concerned!!

Oh yes, and as far as I recall you do still have to have an official confirmation of resignation from your current/old Club!!

Think i beter post something to explain:

Yeas i have signed an aplication to join jiff, but no one ever explained having to resign, i was told to call bc and just change my club..

I am not leaving ptwcc for any bad reason and will for ever be gratefull for the club introducing me to cycling almost 15 years ago, and yes i will be joining ptwcc as a second claim member so i i do fancy joining a club run there there will be no issues. Right the reason for me deciding to go to the darkside are as follows:

1. Current kit available to buy right now in any size etc.... (this isnt important just a fact !!)
2. More members of jiff are road racers, yes this can help you in a race but the reason is give you a wider scope of races to chose from where other members are also racing
3. Regular organised training rides through the week where a number of members turn up to
4. Velodrome sesions layed on during the winter and hopefully more through the summer too.
5. Social things ie meeting for a curry!! every now and again, meeting at the nationals as a team to cheer on ur fav pro
6. Constant hunger to want to get a few team members together to go to races
7. Alot more riders my age who race and keep in contact with.

Hope this clears up a few things.

Again i have no problems in any way with the wheelers as i said above just have come to realise i think id personaly benefit more from another club at this present moment but will more than likely come back if welcome in the future..

Good luck Charles I wish you well.

But for any external members of the public reading this and thinking of joining the P.T.W. may I remind you we have training rides Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (2 groups) and Sunday. Also a MTB group on a Sunday.

We meet socially every Friday and we organise about 8 to 10 open events a year for all clubs to race. Club 10s on a Thursday in the summer.

I agree we dont have many road racers at the moment but we will welcome Charles back when he is old and just doing TTs.

again good luck on the Darkside. May the force be with you

1.they dont race outside of wales.
2.why wud you wanna buy that kit.
3.you have to travel all the way up there to go on the training rides
4.why wud you wanna go cheer on ur fav pro on wen you have a team mate in the race.
did jif have a rider in the race.
anyway il look forward to chasin you down and puttin the jif out the back. peace

I won't sugar coat it - I'm disappointed.

Is there anything IMPORTANT in your list of 7 that couldn't have been changed by you (directly or indirectly) from within the club?

I'm disappointed that charles has joined another club. He seemed to bring a new energy to the club. He engineered the roller nights through the winter. I wish you every success for the future Charles.

Not picked for any of the 4ups. Dummy out of pram. :| :|

Err, is it worth pointing out I was begging for 4UP volunteers, and didn't hear a peep for 2 solid days

If you are interested in joining a team for this event (Thursday 18th June 6:00pm over R25/3H) then please post your name here.

Thanks Gambo, I thought I was on my own! I seem to recall we had a semi-organised system a few years ago with Martin as Chief Selector. What happened to that? I don't like having to go round asking people, since there is a pretty good chance that someone will be left with their nose out of joint.

Certainly we're not left to form our own crews in Swansea Rowing Club. We do what we're told ;)

Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.

A good point Bill. Mind you, I would have thought that the four fastest riders (comfortable with the distance) would seek each other out ;) .

At least Charlie had the decency to have a public tiff with someone before leaving!. Is that Striker lurking 8) in the background, Davey?

 Nah that is PTWCC forum member Steve T looking relieved to have finished the Ras!

Before anyone panics, (or opens the champagne in relief that I'm finally gone!!) the jersey was very kindly lent to me by Rob Powell for the long cold ride back to the HQ from the finish of the last stage of the Ras. I was only too happy to pose for this publicity shot for the Ogmore after that favour! 8)

I shudda gone to spec savers!, sorry Steve! Only three things wrong with the photo Dave, the name on the jersey, illegally parked and someone seems to have robbed the rugby ball you was holding! I suppose the picture has injected some athleticism back into the Ogmore photo gallery ;)
